WVCW Radio is the student-run radio station for Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. The station was founded in 1968 under the original name WJBR (James River Broadcasting). WVCW features an eclectic assortment of music from various student-hosted specialty shows as well as talk shows, podcasts, and the award-winning video series "Chalkboard Sessions." WVCW was named one of the top college radio stations in Billboard Magazine's December 25, 1976 issue (talk about a sick Christmas gift) and continues to be a significant part of VCU and the nation's college radio history.
